WARNING! New Regulations Hide Taxes From The Public

There are two big reasons why people in this nation are disconnected with the true cost of government. One is, partially because of refundable tax credits, that 47% of the people in this nation do not pay any federal income taxes. The other reason they are disconnected is because decades ago our Federal government decided to withhold our taxes when we get our paycheck. This was a vehicle to grow government. At one time people in this nation actually received their whole paycheck and then were required to send a check into the government. The people who did this actually knew the exact amount they were paying because they were writing the check. Today, hardly anyone knows what their gross paycheck is (the amount before taxes), they only know their take-home pay (the net amount). The government had effectively decided to hide the amount of taxes you pay!
Our big, bloated Federal government is doing it again!
The next time you purchase an airline ticket you will not see any Federal taxes and fees associated with it (it used to be itemized). The U.S. Department of Transportation has now mandated that airlines HIDE the government’s taxes and fees in the price of the ticket!
In our opinion this will be just another vehicle to increase taxes and fees on the American people in an effort to increase government. Without transparency Federal bureaucrats could continually increase taxes and fees without your knowledge.
Don’t let this happen. Let Congress know that keeping government taxes and fees low and transparent is best. Contact your elected officials today!

Hiding taxes in prices we pay has been going on for years, despite the fact that it is dishonest and hides the cost of government from taxpayers who have a ‘right to know.’
Fair Taxers point out that an average of about 26% of retail prices is federal taxes and associated compliance costs. Their bill – H.R.25 – replaces that 26% with a 23% national sales tax, collected by the states and itemized on your dslrd receipt.
When we figure out how much federal tax we pay, we should add 26% of all our spending. For most people, the total appraoches 50%. Then add your state and local taxes and think what government is costing. It’s really ridiculous!
I believe that putting the amount of taxes paid on anything is a matter of freedom of speech protected by the US Constitution and that any law or regulation prohibiting this freedom of speech is unconstitutional!
Please check your information. They are not going to hide the fees and taxes on the ticket price. The law is making them show the actual price with taxes and fees on their advertising.
They can’t say they have a $50 fare and then when you get to the point of paying you find out the actual price is $100 because of fees and taxes.
They also have to let you know if there are baggage fees and any other fees, so this actually does the opposite of what you say it does.
This is something that has continually grown over the past several decades to the severe limit it is at now. Politicians need to understand that they don’t need high priced vehicles, gold toilet seats or $300 hammers… they need to learn to live as we do.. paycheck to paycheck.. only then will they understand where we are coming from…
amen…my business pays a tax every year on my tables, chairs ,equipment, etc….why ? I’ve paid a sales tax when I purchase it. Would you pay a tax every year on your dining room set, your TV, your washer and dryer?? Why is buisness screwed over so much and worse, why do we all take it??? We don’t organize and get vocal enough, not at all. We sit and take it…but I think those days are slowly going to be over…Obama is the best thing the Republicans ever had, just hope they can take advantage of that…but he is so socialistic, he has all of us watching how much government is in our pockets. Wake up people…they want more all the time.
A consummation tax would tax everyone rich & poor. The more money you have the more you spend. This way tax loop holes we have now would be closed & everyone pays
No one has mandated that the airlines HIDE taxes. The new reg just requires that the advertised price INCLUDE all taxes and other fees so that the consumer can compare all prices easily without going through multiple calculations. This is consumer protection at its BEST! This is the government’s job–to protect us from unfair business practices. Have you now become a mouthpiece for the poor airlines! I just booked 3 “free” tickets on an airline and the fees were $250, only $30 of which were goverment taxes.
Why can’t someone develop a small computer device that one can carry and scan the amount of taxes on each receipt by category every day that can then be uploaded to a computer to see the daily and monthly and yearly taxes paid on everything purchased. That would help people see the reality of what’s happening and how much the state and federal government is taking every day.
What is so different? They (the government) have been doing this for years. Try tobacco, alcohol, or for that matter anything you buy. How much of the cost of a loaf of bread is eaten up in taxes, from the time the farmer is taxed all the way through to the store where it is purchased? Hidden taxes are the norm in this country. I would vote for a consumption tax if all other taxes are gotten rid of. Once the people of the USA finally learned what they are paying in actual taxes then there would be a revolt.
@ Dave Not sure what state your in but the alcohol tax was repealed in Ma.But I do agree w/u -The Government does hide taxes that we are not even aware we are paying!! Ron Paul 2012..He want’s to downsize the Government not a bigger government!! Nobama 2012 and his stomping on our Constitutional rights with the NDAA!! and he want’s to abolish the 2nd Amendment and disarm every American!! Time to Go Nobama 2012!!!
