Honestly I don’t know if there is ANY candidate worth voting for. Seriously, we need to ditch ALL of these career politicians and get the government back to what our forefathers intended…a government OF the people BY the people FOR the people!! I have heard this before, however for every rule of thumb there is an exception. It may be true more often than not that Presidents do not reap for what they do in office while they are still there. Obama is an exception. He made a difficult situation profoundly worse while increasing the national debt by more than decades of previous presidents and then lying about the results. Democrat congressmen made the changes to lending rules and demanded that banks lone to people they all knew could not repay. Then Obama and the vary individuals who wrote the legislation pointed there crooked fingers and President Bush and continued to do so long after he left office. You sir have taken up the same posture. You have much in common with Obama. His blatant dishonesty (lie by omission) while campaigning for change (failed to mention socialistic goals) and Chicago style politics (nothing new for dems) reveal a lack of presidential gravitas. Michael – I, too, am terrified when I read a lot of comments/replies scattered across most internet stories. And I often stop reading fairly quickly. I sometimes wonder if people write really crazy stuff just because of the veil of identify protection. And though I’m terrified from the opposing viewpoint of yours, it always reminds me that there must be a lot of people in US who are experiencing a much different reality than I am.
Our democratic political system attempts to serve the majority through a majority vote. When the majority wants a socialistic society or would rather the government take care of them in exchange for freedom, then that is what we will have. At that time, those of us who desperately want our freedom will have some decisions to make as to what we are willing to do to get it. — Move, fight, find an uninhabited island, etc. One only needs to read history for possibilities.
For now, all I ask from my fellow Americans is two answer two questions for themselves: honestly/fairly evaluate whether they are “better off today than they were four years ago?” and “will four more years of the same secure a sustainable lifestyle for another generation to come?”
Personally, I am not better off — experienced 2.5 years of unemployment for the first time in my 35 years of working life. I do believe at this point in history, our future will be painful no matter which path the people choose; I only pray that whatever pain we go through establishes a better world for our grandkids. I don’t hold much hope for me or my kid’s generation. We had a good economic times and it has been squandered away by many politicians to-date and perhaps by many Americans. As a conservative Christian I was never so appalled as when the people of Ebenezer Baptist Church of Atlanta (the church of Dr Martin Luther King, Jr.) cheered Obama’s election claiming MLK would be so proud to have a black president. I believe Dr. King was looking down from heaven with disgust at Obama’s stand on abortion, his lack of patriotism, and his anti-Christian beliefs. Very true. Andy Andrews just published a short book entitled “How to kill 11 million people”. The book provides the facts how the German government was able to kill 11 million of its people. The way that they did it was to lie. The other fact is that at its height, the Nazi’s were only 10% of the population. Due to economic hardship and other factors, the German people were apathetic towards the government. We can see how that turned out. Are we not seeing a similar scenario developing here? Of the last several elections the margin of victory was less than 10 million votes. However, over 100 million voting age people in this country have chosen not to vote. Citizenship is a right and also a responsability to participate. I ahve no doubt that the folks on this forum are participants. Our job is to get the word out and to get the ellectorate to turn out and vote.
Part of the “responsibility to participate” is to be informed. It would probably be better for the country if the uninformed voters would stay home!
It is the education system of this country that removed prayer, the pledge of allegience, and any moral guidance from our schools that mass produces that pitiful electorate you reference. Make future generations weak in mind, body and spirit. Avoid teaching children the basic facts about their own history, constitution or rights. Teach them that natural aggression is wrong and docile submission is right. Teach them that any basis of a moral foundation, like the principles of religion, is a weakness to be avoided in the name of freedom and also redefine the concept of patriotism to support your views. Teach them to cast off old values and traditions in the interest and name of sensitivity—after all, we wouldn’t want to offend anyone with our old fashioned or traditional beliefs now would we? And guns, guns are wicked, dangerous, and socially unacceptable—an evil that must be eradicated from society—for the good of the children of course.

If one really thinks about this poll, it is actually one sided. If the Obamanation IS reelected, one could believe that the U.S. could come to a screeching halt. He has already signed a law that effectively nullifies the Bill of Rights, stacked the NLRB with pro union staff and has invented and staffed more “agencies” than the last three presidents. He is trying to make a government that will be the dread of every citizen of this country. I would not be surprised if he tried either to grant citizenship to every illegal before November, or try to make himself “President for life”.

Rob, after reading your post there are several observations I must make. The only thing Clinton pulled out was his pecker every chance he got. The Congress votes on spending. Clinton had a Republican Congress for most of his years in office which led to the surplus at the end of his second term. The “Clinton economy” which Democrats brag about was fueled by a more than 100% increase in individual/family debt during his terms. A similar increase continued through Bush’s first seven years. It all came to a head in 2007 and led to the bailouts in 2008. Under Pelosi’s leadership the Congress added 5 trillion to this nation’s debt, the majority of it under Obama. The Democratic house and senate failed to even pass a budget in 2010! The Democratic Senate refused to pass a budget in 2011. So the Democratic approach is spend recklessly and raise taxes to make up for it. Obama’s strategy of divide and conquer through class warfare is a piss poor example of leadership. When over 70% of the people think the country is headed in the wrong direction a change in leadership is inevitable. If the American people are foolish enough to re-elect Obama then they will deserve everything they get.
It is better to keep ones mouth shut and be thought a fool, than to open it, and remove all doubt!!!

Rob – your kind of thinking is exactly what caused the problems our Nation is facing today. An increased deficit that is more than all of the previous administrations combined is a good thing? Having to borrow money each month just to pay the bills is a sure fire way to go bankrupt, nothing else. That’s what got many people in the trouble they are in now (foreclosures) – borrowing more than they have the ability to pay back. And the DEMOCRATIC Senate has not produced a workable budget in over 1000 days (more than 3 years). That includes 2 years when they were in complete control of Congress. The only way to solve the fiscal crisis is to cut spending – get rid of all the pork and unnecessary spending – borrowing money to give it away to useless programs is insane! More people are on food stamps than ever before, and the Obama Administration is encouraging that – get as many people dependent on the government as possible, buy their votes to keep it that way. As for more taxes for the rich – that doesn’t work, the top 1% of all income earners pay more the 35% of all taxes paid to the government now – I think that’s more than their “fair share”, while over 45% of all possible taxpayers pay ZERO taxes! What’s fair about that? The only way to be truly fair is to have a flat tax, i.e. 15% (10% to the government, 5% to Social Security & Medicare) and MAKE them keep spending within those limits! Also – this 15% is on all earnings – not just income. Another way the Obamanation has failed us is in energy production – they are killing it in America (where we have more than enough resources to meet our needs) and instead are backing South American and Middle Eastern terrorist nations to provide us with oil while creating restrictions on other industries (Coal, Electricity production, Natural Gas) that keeps raising our prices while giving away taxpayer dollars to “Green Energy” companies that are going bankrupt, just because they backed him with campaign contributions. Not to mention his Union backing – stacking the NLRB with pro union bureaucrats who kill jobs and waste dues payers money on politics while their members retirement plans go unfunded – and then expecting the government to bail them out too. All that wasted “stimulus money” – which did nothing to help unemployment or the economy – it just lined more of his political backers pockets – NO COMPANY IS TOO BIG TO FAIL – and if they do, let them. It’s not the governments job to protect these private industries from their own stupidity and poor management. That’s what free enterprise is all about – you fail, someone else will pick up the pieces and make it better, and if not, we probably didn’t need it anyway. And then you have the “Occupy” movement – a bunch of anti capitalists who spend all their time sharing their adventures in protesting on Ipads, Iphones, laptops and other assorted items that only exist because of a capitalist society. What a joke!

An Obama re-election (God forbid), might not lead to the end of the world, but it WILL lead to the end of the United States as we knew it. With such a dis functional congress I think we need to look at term limits. Two terms and you are out. We need to get rid of their benefits an have them pay into social security. Congress was never meant to be a permanent job.
We need a part-time legislative body, made up of people who can donate their time to do the people’s business. They passed 80 laws last year…not enough to spend full time with staff. And, some of the laws might not have benefited us at all.

Electing either Newt or Romney will have the US going down the same stream Obama has us going, except we’ll be in a different model boat. All three of them are CFR members, therefore, they have the same goals. Y’all really need to actively research these people rather than relying on sound bites from complicit media sources… try listening to what candidates are actually saying without interruptions, AND, look at their records- who is most honest and consistent; whose actions mirror their words. I think you’ll discover there is only ONE candidate who will pass these tests. And FYI, he is not anti-Israel. He just believes that Israel should be respected as a sovereign nation and not our pet. Advocating ending all foreign aid will actually strengthen Israel’s position because all of the aid to those who advocate an end to Israel will also be terminated. Logic dictates this is a good thing for Israel, so how can anyone see this as an anti-Israel position?

Unfortunately, none of the GOP candidates is the person we need to lead this country. All but Ron Paul are liberals…look at their records, not what they say. Ron Paul’s foreign policy understanding is woefully inadequate. He and Obama both do not believe Iran is a threat. Iran is running what is happening in the middle east, and is the single biggest threat to Israel. Both Obama and Paul could care less about Israel who has remained a staunch and true ally for decades…unlike most of the countries in Europe and the Mid East.
Until we replace this Congress in its entirety, and set term limits, require Congress to abide by all the laws the rest of us do, get rid of lifetime benefits, and make these baboons adhere to the Constitution, we will continue to lose our once great country. By the way, a pack of baboons is called a congress.
The debate here in Myrtle Beach the other nite clearly showed Ron Paul’s ineptness at foreign policy. He is doubtless a very intelligent man, but is (IMO) far too emotional to lead this country. I am retired military, 30 yrs. I learned in Vietnam, the Persian Gulf & a number of unnamed places that leadership requires 90% objectivity & 10% passion. I really don’t “like” any of the candidates & I’m tired of having to vote for the lesser of 2 evils but there is no doubt Barak Obama will ruin this country if he is given another 4 yrs. If the Republicans should come up with a viable candidate, I predict he will have Biden step down & replace him w/Hillary; then he would be unbeatable. At this time, I would vote for Newt, just for the pure pleasure of watching him destroy Obama in a debate (w/no teleprompters, that is).

Ron Paul is the most Constitutional candidate. He is the only one who is going to actually cut government spending. He is the only one who will oppose the Federal Reserve (cartel of bankers). He is the only one who will reign government spending in by $1Trillion year 1 and balance the budget by year 3. Obama has been a total disaster for the rights of the individual and for the economy. He is spending money at a rate that has done great damage to the private sector and wasting it on special interests whose interests are not compatible with the General Welfare. His ObamaCare will destroy the quality of the medical system. His subsidies and mandates have driven up the cost of energy, though this has been magnificently counteracted by the private sector in open massive new shale gas and oil reserves. His and Democrats long backing of sub-prime mortgages caused most of the early and lingering damage that has made it difficult to recover from this never-ending recession. This this they added the useless, but continuing, bailout programs funded on the backs of most Americans and most small businesses. Contrary to the false story told by the unemployment rate, the number of missing jobs in America is the same now that it was in December 2009. There has been no job recovery! We have been treading water for two years. No other President since FDR has done so much damage to business and the economy as Obama has.
It is not just Obama. Blame the whole Democratic left-wing, greedy, intolerant, selfish, hypocritical Party and its mindless voters.
Obama IS the cataclysmic event! The minute he came to power, we were doomed. There will come a day when he will finally reveal what his (and George Soros, etc,) true intentions- the destruction of this country and it’s culture are. I believe there only two candidates running that can beat obama in a heads-up “debate.” Romney and Gingrich, and Romney is questionable. Now if it were just personalties it would likely be Perry and Santorum. Both are extremely likable personalities. Or just issues I guess it could be Paul or Gingrich with a possibility of Romney. However, if obama has proven anything during the last three years it is that he is a master of BS. He also knows all the angles to lie and cheat so it will take someone experienced in government that knows all the ins and outs. Furthermore, to overcome his (obama’s) talking points and fabrications it will take considerable experience, determination and intuition. Who ever the nominee is they must prepare for the obama spin as to the events over the last three years. Their preparation must include prepping for the obama view point. Just being logical is not enough.
There is however, no doubt the two most experienced in getting things done and getting the other party to cooperate is both Gingrich and Romney.
Because this is such an important election, perhaps the survival of this nation depends on a conservative winning. We, as a nation, need to take it just as serious as it really is. We need to get over the self-righteousness and selfishness and be determined to support whoever the nominee turns out to be. Even if the nominee is not our personal choice.
It is very easy to set back and say “my dog could beat obama.” But don’t believe it, that’s not true. No one, and I mean no one will run over him in an election. This is going to be Chicago politics at its best. If you know what I mean. How could anyone expect such a corrupt person to run a legitimate campaign. So we had better quit arguing and start working together or we will cause our own demise! I once heard it said “it ain’t the voter that counts, it the counter of the votes that counts.”
If Ron Paul (who is admittedly not a conservative) is the nominee I will support him out of desperation because the objective must be to defeat obama in 2012. Although, I have a tendency to not believe in the end of the world on December 21, 2012, it should be quite obvious to everyone who does not vote for a living if obama is reelected he will destroy this nation beyond recognition. Consequently, that predicted catastrophe may be obama’s reelection.

He has managed to give away American taxpayer’s money to: help rebuild mosques in Iran, promote gay rights in Europe, gave $3,000,000,000 to an already super rich man named George Soros for off shore oil drilling off the coast of Brazil. Did he ask the American people if we agreed to these giveaways? NO! He has promoted Islam and Sharia Law, but won;t allow the name of JESUS to be uttered. Gary, I would like to clarify something for the bash Bush groupies. The Democrats took TOTAL CONTROL of the House and Senate January 3, 2007. AT that point the economy was doing fine AND the employment rate was 4.7%. The Democrat rule of spend everything into the ground and then spend more took over aat that time and by November of 07 the recession was on the horizon. Bush even veto’d spending bills that the then Democratic CONTROLLED Houses passes but his veto’s were over ridden by the Democratic CONTROLLED Houses. Wake up people. Bush DID NOT start this recession and if you would do your damn homework and stopped to listening to the Obama Socialist Media and visiting the Hate everything that is not Obama websites, you may just learn the truth!
